Lambs, lambs and even more lambs
I know, I need to post some pictures. We have had even more computer trouble, but hopefully its fixed, for now.
All of our Suffolk's have lambed. They are doing well except for one that has a broken leg, and another little ewe lamb that is lame because our Great Pyre puppy played a bit too rough with her as a new born. I'm hoping they both pull thru, but only time will tell.
Our Icelandics are doing very well! Only three have lambed so far, all singles. Kit was first, with a ewe lamb. Brown with 3 white boots on her legs. Beatrice was next, a few hours later, with an all black ewe lamb. Both weighed over 9#'s. I knew Beatrice, who is 7, has had large lambs in the past, but I was surprised that Kit had such a large one since she is a first time mom. One week later Kat had a ram lamb, also brown with two white socks in the front. He weighed over 90#s also..... What good mothers these ewes are! While the Suffolks would stand around and make noise while our puppy played with their lambs, the Icelandics will actually charged and roll the puppy if she even as much as looks at their lambs! So now my job is to move the sheep every two or three days to fresh pasture. Now that we have had some rain ( and boy did we get the rain) the grass is growing wonderfully!
Hopefully I can get some pictures up tonight.
